Job Title:        Catering Banquet Lead (Part Time - Hourly Position)
Department:  MTCC – Food & Beverage Service
Reports To:    Food & Beverage Service Manager

The Catering Banquet Lead`s purpose is to help to ensure the successful execution of catering/banquet events through the efficient handling of all service duties and guest inquiries.  As a team leader, working on the floor, the incumbent provides guidance and direction to catering/banquet service staff to provide excellent service to our customers.  The Catering Banquet Lead will often be the main “go to” person for the customer once they arrive on site for their event and also for other internal departments throughout the event (e.g. Kitchen). 

This position requires flexibility in working hours as required to meet the business needs of the MTCC.  Cross training opportunities may be provided within the Food & Beverage Service Department and at times, there may be opportunities to take shifts in other capacities within the Department. 

 
Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide prompt, courteous and efficient food & beverage service. 
Maintain a professional appearance with good grooming at all times.
Investigate all guest inquiries in a timely fashion to provide the highest possible service.
Deliver several types of food & beverage service including plated and buffet dinners, lunches and breakfasts, working lunches, coffee breaks, banquets, and bar service.
Required to read and understand Banquet Event Orders.
Have a good understanding of day-to-day expectations, tasks and operations.
Provide on the floor leadership and support to colleagues.
Communicate effectively with the kitchen. 
Assist the Food & Beverage Service Manager with coaching and developing team members, ensuring standards are always being maintained.
Exercise independent judgment on standard operational decisions.
Promote team work and uphold positive inter-department communication.
Ensure a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment.
Ensure that all company policies are followed.
Skills & Qualifications:

Must have 2 or more years of experience working with food and beverage service.
Food safety handling and responsible beverage service certifications would be an asset.
Welcoming, engaging, empowered personality.
Excellent customer service, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational, multitasking and time-management skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet the guests’ needs.
Ability to lift up to 25kg. 
Team player and a self-starter.
Basic math skills required.

Job Title:        Food & Beverage Server – Experience Required!
Position:         Part-Time Hourly
Department:  Membertou Trade & Convention Centre (MTCC)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure that pick-up and delivery of products to and from the kitchen is on time.
Serve alcoholic beverages as required.
Stay attentive to assigned tables.
Responsible for setting up dinner tables and side stations.
Responsible for ensuring that dining areas are kept clean and organized.
General maintenance such as washing tables, chairs, and buffet areas.
Keep service areas clean and free of debris, particularly the floors and side stations.
Must be friendly, courteous and professional toward guests and co-workers.
Promote teamwork among the serving staff and with the kitchen staff.
Must be well groomed and appropriately dressed as per policy.
Flexibility to work shifts for catered banquet events and/or restaurant dining room.
All duties common to a server position and/or as requested by management.
 
Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of previous experience as a restaurant server is required.
Eligibility to serve alcoholic beverages is preferred.
Must have ability to lift up to 25 Kg.
Familiarity with POS systems would be beneficial.
Safe food handling and responsible beverage service certifications would be an asset.
Must be willing to work a variety of hours, based on business needs.

Job Title:        Executive Sous Chef
Position:         Full-Time
Department:  Membertou Trade & Convention Centre (MTCC)

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible to uphold the standard set forth by the Executive Chef.

Plan, direct and work hands on with food preparation for banquets and catered events, under the direction of the Executive Chef. 

Coach, mentor and instruct cooks in preparation of food and new cooking techniques

Ensure the restaurant chef , banquet chef and all kitchen staff are following proper procedure at all times

Ensure staff are following the recipes and not changing items.

Discipline staff if needed.

Ensure the restaurant chef and banquet chef are focused on the needs of the customers and are working together with the dining room staff to exceed the expectations of the quest.

Oversee, prepare, and/or finish the plates going out to the customers to make sure that everything leaving the kitchen is consistently made to the required specification.

Assist the Executive Chef with control of labor costs, by monitoring staffing levels to how busy an event is.  Send kitchen staff home when it is not busy.

Assist the Executive Chef with control of food costs; by monitoring for waste and ensuring that food goes out according to customer expectations every time.

When the Executive Chef is unavailable, assist Serving staff with decisions regarding how to handle customer complaints or concerns regarding their food. 

Consistently monitor for proper food storage and kitchen cleanliness.

Ensure that kitchen equipment is always in good repair and properly maintained. Notify Executive Chef when repairs are required.

Show leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and cooking.

Demonstrate high personal integrity, business ethics and take every opportunity to promote the MTCC to others.

All duties common to a Executive Sous Chef and any related duties that may be assigned by management.

Assist with food preparation for the restaurant, if required.

Responsible for creating a positive guest experience. Smile and be helpful and friendly.

Must be courteous and professional toward guests and co-workers.

Promote inter-department unity by building and maintaining relationships with team members and dining room staff.

Must be well groomed and appropriately dressed as per policy.

Adhere to all company policies.

Required to report any incidents, such as theft, injuries, etc.

Adhere to the Building Fire Procedure and evacuation plan.

Adhere to all Food Safety handling regulations.

Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and regulations.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 2 years of previous cooking experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. 

Post-Secondary culinary training would be an asset.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Job Title:        Banquet Chef
Department:  Trade & Convention Centre - Kitchen
Reports To:    Executive Chef

 

This is an exciting and challenging hands-on, working-chef position.  As our banquet chef, you will be joining a highly motivated and experienced team with a reputation for quality food and service.

The banquet chef is a full-time position with a salary of $40,000 per year, plus pension, medical and dental plans.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Plan, direct and execute all banquets and catered events under the direction of the Executive Chef.

Coach, mentor and instruct kitchen staff, as required.

Oversee all dishes leaving the kitchen to ensure they are done to spec and to the customer’s request every time.

Assist the Executive Chef with controlling food and labor costs, and with monitoring staffing levels, food storage, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen. 

Show leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and the culinary arts.

All duties common to a Banquet Chef and any related duties that may be assigned by the Executive Chef.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

Must have a minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

Post-Secondary culinary training would be an asset.

Food Handling Safety and WHMIS certifications required.   

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as a keen eye for detail are essential.

Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs is required.
